A little about the artist
As you may know, for the last 17 years Carl has been getting into trouble all over the USA, from painting Life Models with Randy Sexton in San Francisco to studying with Dan Thompson and Max Ginsburg in New York City; from Jazz Fest in New Orleans to Jack Johnson in Santa Barbara.
He explored Plein Aire Festivals with Joshua Been in Sedona, the Grand Canyon, high into the mountains of Victor Colorado and Crested Butte.
Those of you that know Carl are aware of his passion for the never ending adventure not only to paint places but to get involved and live the sustainable play.
When not painting Carl can be found either mountain biking or rock climbing. He loves to live, paint and entertain in his studio gallery at 132 W. 1st Street in Salida. If you ever around, be sure to stop by.
Fall Art Trip to the Climbing Paradise
It has been three months that Carl and I have been balancing the game of sustainable play at one of the world's best Climbing Mecca, Kalymnos.
This incredible greek island was our backdrop and energy for a big number of creations and commissions.
And the climbing... Hard to find words to describe the feeling of doing what we love at the perfect place!
We are working on getting all the pieces ready to be displayed! Don't miss out.

Winter in the Sun
As you all may know, Carl and I were on the road chasing the sunshine and warmth, finding the best spots to rock climb and paint.
For the last three months Sparkle Bus has been cruising the desert. We climbed and painted in New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, California and Nevada.
We mastered to set up organic studios creating a great volume of new art, taking and shipping commissions on the road.
Do not worry! Carl Ortman Gallery in Salida is always opened.
Whenever we are away you can click here to book an appointment and visit the gallery.
Love,
Dani Mariano
